Open Question: Dreamweaver CS3 Database connections from localhost to webhost (iPower)?
I have built a website in Dreamweaver CS3 including databases (mySQL). every of the links to the databases through my website are to my test server on my local machine. How do I maintain these links and receive my website online; connected to my hosts (iPower) mySQL? I do not have a dedicated server for my database other than my web host. I'm a bit new at this. That code will solve everything just by inputting it into my html?

Open Question: How do you get 50 IP addresses?
Troublesome techies brag on forums how they can just create another account because they have '50' IP addresses after each ban. How is that possible? You are assigned 1 IP address to your router. How could you have 50?? I realize you can do difficult resets on your modem and that can change your address - but 'having' 50? Any basic explanations - running on some sort of dedicated server or something? troublesome techies 'BRAG'.. sorry oh I already had brag nvm lol!

Open Question: Are you allowed to ask your users to click on an Adsense ad?
Hi, I want to offer a free service on my website, the whole website is dedicated on this service. And it is costing me about $600 per month to make use of the suppliers API to display the information to the public. I don't make money by subscriptions. So I will need to arrive up with another idea on how to make money from the website. I was thinking of advertising and Google's Adsense. Am I allowed to state on my website that because it is a free service that each user must click on a Google ad so that I can bring in money to support the website and servers and hosting and paying for the API etc? What is Google's policy regarding this?

Ok, well I have been trying to receive a dedicated server but so far it's every been LAN (I could join at this point). So I'm guessing I somehow got it to be public but I accidentally screwed something up in the process. Any ideas?

Resolved Question: Please clarify these Wikileaks technical requirements?
On the Wikileaks website I read that they are looking for people to support their technical infrastructure. As I do not have a deep understanding of technology would you please explain to me what this means in clear english. Here is what Wikileaks wrote: "Servers arrive trouble-free and legally fortified, software is uniquely challenging. If you can provide rackspace, power and an uplink, or a dedicated server or storage space, for at least 12 months...." What servers are they talking about? Does WikiLeaks provide the equipment with its challenging software? How do they expect the public to implement this? How does a civilian provide rackspace, or an uplink or dedicated server? And for 12 months?? What does that mean? What are they looking for exactly. Why the time frame? What nice of hierarchy is the setup they are trying to implement? Who are suitable candidates for this nice of work, local computer warehouses or something? Again, I don't work in this field, so if someone would explain what Wikileaks is looking to do, I could understand their agenda/ infrastructure a little better. TIA http://wikileaks.org/wiki/Special:Support

Resolved Question: How can i set windows firewall up to do this?
I have a dedicated server running on windows 2008 with windows firewall. I have a program running on it that connects to 8 websites, and sends loads of packages to them. There are some flaws in one of these websites, which made my program send loads of packages to the local network of my dedicated hosting provider. It wont happen again, since i contacted the other website and told them what happened. They have fixed it. However, my hosting provider didnt agree and need me to prevent it on my possess server aswell. They gave me the followin instructions: I need to reconfigure my server so that it doesn't forward requests TO private IPs into the public network. I know i can do this with default routes for 192.168.0.0/16 or 10.0.0.0/8 or i can configure my firewall so it blocks outgoing connections over the public interface to private IPs. This is every i have. I know my way around the server, i just dont know how to do this. Can anyone give me some guidelines on how to start out or how to fix it?

Voting Question: Steam on Mac, are there mods?
I have always been a console gamer but really think it would be chilly to be a PC gamer with mods and dedicated servers and such. But, I don't really like PCs (I just prefer Macs to PCs) and am excited about Steam for Mac. I am planning on purchasing a MacBook Pro OSX and was curious if I could still download chilly mods for games even though I am using steam and a mac. Thanks a lot!

Voting Question: Do you think PC gaming is dying?
I switched over to PC from consoles several years ago, because i thought PC gaming was a lot better. While i still prefer gaming on pc over consoles, i cant help but receive the feeling its dying. A lot big time game developers/publisher keep giving us the short end of the stick like not offering us dedicated servers for one ( here's looking at you mw2.). We receive some bad port over of some games and are poorly optimized for the PC. Also when going to electronic stores such as Best Buy, they had a huge selection of PC games with its possess aisle about 2 years ago, not its just two short shelves at my local best buy. Anyone else think so?

Resolved Question: Question About AMD Opteron 12-Core Server?
OK, this is the current killer CPU...and it sells for the same price as an Intel 980X. I do serious audio/video editing...and I have considered using a server as a combo of my personal workstation and as a general user computer. The question is...is it unwise to use a server other than as a dedicated task computer. IOW, could I set the server up so that I could do both my professional work (MAYA, etc.) AND as my PC for things like being my home stereo setup. My friends are split on the issue...so I would like some additional input. Thanks. @B: I would be using a network video card...as well as two sound cards. I have tried using straight high end consumer video cards before, and they just don't clip it for most professional apps. As long as it ran a decent network card...and an M-Audio sound card...and an HT Omega sound card for home stereo use (PCI) I would be glad. @Jack: So true...and I don't want to use LINUX. I have a ton invested in my sound gear, and every of a sudden it becomes legacy stuff. :-) Frankly, most of the studios still use XP, unless they are at a point where they can justify the expense of new sound/video hardware. MAYA runs multi-threaded, but still...$1,000 foor a 980X? I know this is Opteron would be a server, but I also want whatever I eventually move to serve multiple purposes. y main deal is that the Q9650 I use now is still a great CPU...and that freaking Law of Diminishing Returns does color every of my decisions.

Resolved Question: Which is better: XBOX 360 or PC? *PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FIRST, OR MOST OF IT...*?
I know! I know! I know that PC's have much better graphics! I don't need a whole article on how Fallout 3 looks gorgeous on a PC compared to an XBOX 360... Here's the point: I have both systems, a high end PC and XBOX 360, and like playing on both. However, I have noticed that the number of players is rising on XBOXs these days, and I was wondering why that is... I created this question to not only say what I adore about both, but to hear why everyone else chooses which they prefer... Here are MY views on things: I adore both PC and console gaming, but I would hate to double up on every my games, for instance, I have already bought 2 versions of every of the Call of Duty games, one on XBOX and one on PC. As you may know, this is not only expensive but redundant. I understand that these are difficult times for everyone, and that is why there are more console gamers appearing than there have been in a while: in order to play a chilly PC game with good graphics, you need a pretty nice PC, which can cost anywhere from $400 - $4000, not including monitor, headset, speakers, etc. while it can cost only fractions of that by buying an XBOX 360, only $200 - $300 for the actual console, not including the television setup, speakers, etc. and have not as good graphics, but a fun and memorable experience nonetheless. I am fortunate enough to have both, but I threw it out there for reference. Most of my friends rave about their XBOXs and the games they have, and I want to play those games with them, but I would much prefer using a mouse and keyboard over a controller for most of the games XBOX offers. I do not hate the controller, I am just a bigger fan of the mouse and keyboard, as it delivers crisp and precise movements and control over the XBOX controller. I adore XBOX LIVE, everything about it is awesome, the free ("free" with a $50 Gold XBOX LIVE subscription) IGN Insider Moves, OXM, Major's Minute, the whole lot, but I adore Steam as well. Not only does Steam offer many killer deals on games and have mega sales on almost everything, STEAM IS FREE! I adore when I arrive home from buying an XBOX game, slip the game into the console and play it, without any installation or waiting, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. I could care less where I played, whether on a sofa or a comfy seat, but I like playing on the same console with my friends, which is impossible on a PC. I am a big fan of the PC's highly advertised "Free DLC" through updates and patches, vs paying $10 - $15 for XBOX DLC. However, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for the PC has tested my patience and appreciation for Steam games, as I have run into many hackers and cheaters that ruin the game for everyone. Dedicated servers are awesome, as you can find any match you wanted: gametype, map, mods, player numbers, hardcore/normal health, etc. and join that game in an instant. But playing in a lobby adds a dimension of unknown and uncertainty (Who am I playing with? What is the next map?) which is also different and enjoyable. In my honest opinion, both the PC and XBOX 360 are pretty evenly matched in terms of fun, playability and entertainment, but as of right now, and the foreseeable future, I think that most of my time will be spent on my PC, as it is (in my opinion), and has been, the best way to play video games. There, I have written my essay, the point I'm trying to make is: Which do YOU think is better: the PC, or the XBOX 360, and WHY? I'm sorry that I wrote so much, and many of you won't bother to read what I wrote. every I am trying to ask is which system do you perfer to play games and why? I just wrote that "essay" to spread my thoughts on the matter. It's just a topic I find interesting and I wanted to look what other people thought about it... that's every...

Resolved Question: Help with Socks5 Proxy?
I would like to run a socks5 proxy on a web server from a hosting provider. It is a Linux server, but I do not have shell access. I can run some simple terminal commands (cd, dir, pwd) with a simple php script that uses system() but I can not run ./configure, make, or make install. Is there a way to run socks5 on this server? I tried using phproxy, but it doesn't seem to work on anything but port 80. Is there an alternative socks, http or https proxy that I can use with programs like Firefox. Note: I would prefer to have a dedicated server, rather than use tar Thanks

This summer, I'm planning on hosting a tiny LAN Party for about a dozen people, and I was planning on building a cheap PC to serve as a dedicated Team Fortress 2 server, so I'm wondering what you guys would recommend for hardware on this machine (CPU, RAM, etc.) Keep in mind that this is NOT going to be an online server, so bandwidth won't be an issue. Also, I might have a few bots to make up for the lack of players. InB4 "LOL, just rent a server" or anything else like that. InB4 is short for "in before".

Voting Question: How do you start Left 4 Dead?
It took me ages to load the game and sort it out and now i've got onto the dedicated server. I'm totally lost and strangely there doesn't seem to be a PLAY button anywhere. Does anyone know how to start the game?

Resolved Question: Should I build/purchase a server or should I pay for dedicated?
Hi, I am trying to launch several websites and expecting total few hundreds thousand people visit the webs at the same time. I found out that a good dedicated hosting quite expensive. (I am student). So I am wonder if would it be cheaper in long run if I build one myself? How do I know how much bandwidth is available and need? Also is there any specific tutorial on self build server. Thanks in advance!

Voting Question: Left 4 Dead 2 Help! Xbox LIVE trouble!?
I have had Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox 360 since Christmas, and every time I go on LIVE, it lags a lot, and half of that could just be because of the Dedicated Server. I look up at my computer and only 2 things are open, and I went to system settings and went to the memory and did the cache thing, WHAT DO I DO!?? I WANNA KILL MORE ZOMBIES WITHOUT LAGGING!
